You can just imagine Damon Gough aged seven. Starts to build a treehouse. Can't be arsed anymore. Makes a tyre swing instead. Swings on it for five minutes. Cuts it down. Opts to roll it down a hill whilst turning his attention to the cake bowl. Onstage these days he is the king of the attention defecit, merrily and notoriously arsing about, taking calls from his mum, buggering off, buggering back on, and generally acting the goat, albeit a goat with a rare talent for a delicate song. This is when he's let loose on a venue with a curfew-breaking stick, though - at festivals he generally behaves himself, winning over the crowds with his lovely Elliott Smith-isms. Look forward to the sunny 'About A Boy' stuff. Will he commence identifying flora and fauna some time during the second verse of 'Silent Sigh'? The joy is in the not knowing!
