profiles

Kone-R (aka Russell Parsons) has been DJ'ing for ten years. Always keen to select only the choicest boundary-pushing cuts, his reputation continues to build all the time. Over the years he has juggled many styles, from techno to jungle, dub to hip hop, indie to breaks and way beyond.

It was a logical step (not to mention long-held ambition) to set up the Uncharted Audio record label, which he did with the help of co-founder Danny Daley last year. In keeping with the varied musical tastes of its bosses, the label strives to release quality music with lasting appeal and aims to reduce, rather than increase, the gap between the 'accessible' and the 'experimental'.

Releases so far by Langer (of whom Kone-R makes up 50%) and the hotly-tipped Cursor Miner have met with excellent reviews across the board. As of April 2002 Kone-R appears regularly at Wang in London and has a residency at Sequencer Variety Club, based at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.

Explore www.unchartedaudio.com for streaming audio mixes and the full-on audio/visual assault of the Kone-R vs Cursor Miner vs Brainfresh Uncharted Audio 3 hour special that was broadcast on Groovetech last year.
