It feels like things might be starting to happen for Matt Harding.

His story started back in 2001 with a limited 7" release on Heavenly Recordings.
Shortly afterwards his debut album, 'Tomorrow' (moshi moshi records) recorded in his flat in kentish town introduced us to his distinctive electro-folk sound.
It sounded quite unlike anything else around at the time, honest, intimate, melancholy and uplifting all at the same time, and was compared to everything from Beck to New Order to The Beta Band.

The press loved it. But it sold just a handful of copies.

Then came second album 'Commitment' (2003).
Musically it was apparent Matt was refining and developing his songwriter skills.
And there was a bit more of the man himself on it - more vocal tracks and more 'pop' songs.

Once again the press loved it. But more of them this time. And once again it sold a handful of copies.

Then something unexpected happened - it carried on selling.
Each month more copies, and Matt wasn't even doing anything. In fact he was off in Japan.

And then when the 'Tomorrow' album started selling again, it felt like the world might finally be coming round to the genius of Matt Harding. It somehow seemed fitting that Matt should achieve recognition in this understated, word-of-mouth way. It seem to sit right with the intimacy of the songs and the do-it-yourself ethos of the recordings.

Which brings us to his latest offering - 'Thinking In Fours' 6 track E.P.
Starting off with two of Matt's more conventional compositions the E.P goes on to showcase the full range of his sound and songwriting talent.

The contrasting styles make the moments of simple beauty all the more poigniant and striking.
