SAMMO HUNG
Angular, noisy & feisty Cardiff 4-piece math-pop-rockers visit Southampton's NOISE ANNOYs night @ the King Alfred as an extra special
treat. The band are riding high on the back of thestorming reviews that have been coming in for their debut album, Stand Up And Swear
released late last year on No Danger Recordings. Cheerfully obliterating the preconception that all female fronted groups are lightweight indie affairs, Sammo Hung take their cues from predecessors like The Slits and Fugazi. Peddling an infectious brand of scratchy, jerking
noise-pop, all angular rhythms and skewed lyrics, the band conjure up a winningly unhinged racket. Following two singles, one EP and gigs
with the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Rocket From The Crypt and Mclusky, their debut album of new material rattles through 13 tracks in
just 31 minutes… primed to win the hearts of a whole new audience.
"Stand Up and Swear should be your mantra" 4/5 Bang
"Brit post punkers shrill debut" 7/10 NME
“Sammo Hung exude both style and substance, making Stand Up AndSwear a blinding debut, exposing a myriad of variety from a invariably
narrow genre. However, in more concise and analytical terms, it's low
slung and punk as f***.” 4/5 bbc.co.uk
