SÉBASTIEN ROUX (FR) ::
Sébastien Roux was in charge of development as a part of the room acoustics team at IRCAM (Paris). Now, still at IRCAM, he works as a musical assistant: creating customized tools for composers using the object oriented programming environment MAX/MSP. He first explored music as a guitarist in various experimental-post rock-ambient bands. His current solo workcan be defined as melodic, electronic and organic ambient compositions based on digitally processed guitar drones. He also plays with Eddie Ladoire in a duet called Heller (n-rec) in which he combines his electronics drones with Eddie’s hyper digital manipulations. His work has been featured on the recent E.A.D.G.B.E compilation on 12k, on the LEVITATE compilation on n-rec (duo with SOGAR), as well as 'object set and motion' on apestaartje. His first solo full length will be released on apestaartje in early 2004.
Aero (NL) ::
Aero is the solo project of apestaartje co-founder and label head Koen Holtkamp. His work has been described as "a complex synthetic recreation of something unspecifically organic, in other words, an assemblage of sound capable of transforming the listener's conception of time and space." (AG, other music) He has performed throughout Europe and at several festivals including The New York Experimental Film Festival (2001) with Carston Nicolai (Noto), I-Sound, and Fennesz, The Nice On No Frame Festival with Minamo and Collin Olan at The Hideout, Chicago (2002) and as a part of a rotating ensemble who performed Nicholas Collins 'Devils Music' at the Empty Bottle in Chicago (2002). His second album titled 'rises and falls' was released on apestaartje in November 2003.
Anderegg (US) ::
One of the founding members of the apestaartje collective, Brendon Anderegg's work has been described as "an ever-shifting composition of nervous trembles, ticks and spasms gently coaxed from acoustic instruments, field recordings and all things electronic, that is then obsessively obscured as if beneath a fluttering veil that allows only brief flashes of detail while carefully filtering the remainder" (AG, other music). Notable performances include The New York Experimental Film Festival (2001) with Carston Nicolai (Noto), I-Sound, and Fennesz, and "30 Days Notice," a three day Arts Festival in Portland, Oregon hosted by the Conduit Dance Studio and the apestaartje European Tour (2003). His second album 'anomia' was released on apestaartje in May 2003.
