[ text about: The Monster Warp Party ]

Warp's annual big party happens this year in the spectacular environs of The Coronet in Elephant & Castle. Lately home to some punishing drum Īn' bass events and in use as a place of entertainment since the 17th century, it was originally a theatre in Shakespeare's time, crowned Theatre Royal in 1872, and then remodelled and converted into a 1,000 seat cinema in 1928. Needless to say, this is a stunning venue, and all the better to witness one of the finest Warp line-ups in recent memory:

Plaid - with a magnificently moody and luscious new album, Spokes, due for release on 20 October, Plaid have recently played a sold put show at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, headlined at the Vasarely Museum in Aix-en-Provence in May, and are about to head off on a lengthy US tour in November. With customised visuals (care of their visuals maestro, Bob) and a fully live performance, Plaid are poised to claim their rightful place as the dons of the dancefloor.

Aphex Twin - having released a compilation of his inimitable remixes, 26 Mixes For Cash, this year, Aphex is now approaching the 12th anniversary milestone of Rephlex Records with the forthcoming label tour with the Logarhythm collective in November. With only select UK dates this year, including a memorable roof raising set this year at All Tomorrow's Parties, supporting Bjork (as the devious DJ Smojphace) and unleashing jungle mayhem playing the HMS President with Squarepusher in the summer, this is a must-see Aphex Twin experience.

There's loads more as well!
