profile

Highpoint Lowlife started out as the idyll daydream of two unemployed kids in San Francisco, eating strawberries and smoking the green, atop Twin Peaks, looking out over the city. It was an extension of a club night they had been running, that had been mixing the latest indie rock and shoegazer sounds with abstract and damaged electronic beats. Their first record, the double CD compilation 'Tired Of Standing Still' set out with a similar theme, working at the cross section between guitars and computer generated music, and with the help of their friends, managed to capture a snapshot of what was happening in the music scene of San Francisco. Since then, the two have moved on from San Francisco, one based in Chicago and one in London, where they contine to collaborate, with two new projects due out this year.

Find Some ShadeFind Some Shade by si-cut.db
" Static infused, and processed dub basslines combine with german minimalist tech sounds and driving rhythms for this, the latest full length release from the prolific Si-cut.db. Douglas Benford, the man behind the Si-cut.db persona has over the past ten or so years released a vast catalog of solo work and collaborations on labels ranging from Spa.rk, Bip_Hop, BackGround, Expanding, and working with people like Benge, Scanner, and Stephan Mathieu, all while also co-running the London based monthly Sprawl club and label, alongside partner in crime, BitTonic. In 'Find Some Shade' Si-cut.db pushes his sound further, continuing his explorations of found sound and digitized noise, combining it with a more dance oriented, tho stoned and hazy, lofi groove. "
