absentee play buzz night at bush hall

[ text about: absentee play buzz night at bush hall ]

ABSENTEE will be playing with Simian offshoot GARDEN, and two more bands in the beautiful setting of Bush Hall on Tuesday 27th April.

Bush Hall
310 Uxbridge Road
London W12
nearest tube Shepherd's Bush

Absentee single The Getaway/Homegroan released 26th April.
Cat no. RadioSVN05
350 numbered 7"s only

"Top tune. Reminiscent of early Eno. That could be our last ever record of the week" Mark and Lard on Radio 1.

Stepping gingerly in the wilful footprints of Will Oldham, East End greenhorn Dan Michaelson certainly knows his way around the odd blues tune. His debut single as Absentee finds him gargling gravel with the best in the business - weaving his stony range through an infectious patchwork of wasted country ramblings and rich blues lethargy. It’s Bourbon-gentle yet barbed with a maverick attitude and may prove to be the foundation stone for a pretty impressive career. Keep your eye on him. LOGO Magazine

SINGLE OF THE MONTH - Unpeeled Magazine
BOLLOCKS TO HOXTON SQ
Absentee "The Getaway" (Radiotone Records)
Alright, this is the bloody dogs. A grown man doing a low-down growl n drawl over a stinging guitar, both whipped along by a tight arse country-punky bass & drum and the things they've done to that guitar solo are probably illegal, but unspeakably ace. The main man here, Dan Michaelson, is an East London boy, but if he was fresh out of Nashville his towering tunesmithery would see the industry lining up to kiss his arse. Single of the month? Oh yes, very and that's not even considering the blinding flip, "Homegroan". You need this record.

"Writes pop, country and blues songs rich in melody it's an endearing work and one that grows with every listen, Independent (Hawaiian Disco album review)

"BOLLOCKS TO HOXTON SQ
Absentee 'The Getaway' (Radiotone Records)
Alright, this is the bloody dogs. A grown man doing a low-down growl n drawl over a stinging guitar, both whipped along by a tight arse country-punky bass & drum and the things they've done to that guitar solo are probably illegal, but unspeakably ace. Oh yes, very and that's not even considering the blinding flip, 'Homegroan'. You need this record, if only to tide you over until the album, 'Hawaiian Disco', is released."

Absentee single The Getaway/Homegroan released 26th April. As heard on Radio 1, 6 music, SBN, and other great stations up and down the country. Single of the Month 'Unpeeled Magazine', reviews in Logo, Record Collector and many more.
