SLOW SOUND SYSTEM
LIE DOWN AND BE COUNTED

THE FOUNDRY : 13 FEBRUARY 2005 : 3-8PM

‘Quality avant chillage’ BBCi
‘Unadulterated bliss …’ RESONANCE FM

----------

The slow sound system explores ambient listening, new electronica and pixel manipulation … we return for 2005 with the first of our free listening sessions.

Lining up at The Foundry on 13 February are two of London’s brightest stars of electronica, last encountered at the London Headphones Festival last year. We’re Breaking Up lay down delicate shortwave experiments and electronic snap, crackle & pop. Meanwhile Cheapmachines explores warm noise, field recordings and tape loops.

On the bench: digitals, soundscaping and audiocollage from resident djs iMax and Albert, plus digital artworks and flash workouts from Janek Ropinsky.

----------

WE'RE BREAKING UP (TWOTHOUSANDAND, ANTIOPIC) (US / UK) (LIVE)
shortwave electronica, snap crackle and pop

‘Restless, shifting drones … a really epic feel. Excellent’ SMALLFISH
‘Takes the improvisation of electronics to a barren wasteland, it glows and flashes and fizzes to the end’ IGLOOMAG
‘Yet another fine, fine release from this superb label. Check it out’ BAGATELLEN

----------

CHEAPMACHINES (KABUKIKORE, NID NOD) (UK) (LIVE)
drones, tape loops, field recordings

‘… some fine examples of extreme manipulation …’ VITAL

----------

iMAX, ALBERT (FR / UK) (DECKS + FX)
collage, soundscaping, digitals

JAY ROPINSKY (d) (VJ)
flashwerks, digital sublime

----------

Sunday 13 February, 3-8pm, free admission

unslow sound system

[ text about: unslow sound system ]

UNSLOW SOUND SYSTEM @ FOUNDRY, 10 JULY, 5-11PM
the evil twin of slow sound system returns to the foundry:

RECON + THORSTEN SIDEB0ARD (highpoint lowlife, 12k, fatcat) (uk) (live)
dubbed out, broken techno – 'mesmeric' BBCi

iBOARD (laptop + decks set) (uk) (live)
hiphop, crunch, whiteout

iMAX, ALBERT (uk, fr) (dj)
soundscaping, bass, beats, noise and electro

JAYROPE (d) (vj)
microvisuals and flashwerks

praise for Recon:

“glimpses into infinite rhythms that will go on reverberating long after we're redirected our ears." Philip Sherburne, The Wire, June 2004
“stripped-down minimalism ... detailed, marshal and mesmeric." BBCi

it will be loud. bring earplugs!
