The 10th of April will see the first Süd Electronic Party for 2010 .
Our first party since our December outing which saw two blinding sets from Levon Vincent & XDB .
This time around we’ve put together a rather different beast .
We will be Celebrating the release of Tevo Howard’s rather classy ‘ - Crystal Republic album . Out now on Rush Hour’s - house sub label – Hour House is your Rush .
Tevo Howard is a rare Chicago find who is still putting out or playing quality music; steeped in the Chicago tradition as we know it and love. A sound championed by the likes of Ron Hardy , Armando , Larry Heard and many more .
Djaying since 1987 @ the age of 13 ; Tevo has found favour amongst the more discerning dj’s what with the excellent releases by himself as well as his dad Rick “Poppa” Howard on his very own Beautiful Granville imprint as well as on Hour House Is Your Rush .
In Honor of Tevo’s contribution and arguably electronic music’s last revolution way back then when Chicago’s dj fraternity pissed about with a Roland 303 and helped shape what is the Chicago sound now which is still relevant now as it was then ;
The whole night will be dedicated to Chicago related music from labels such as
Trax , Dj International , Play House , Dance Mania , SRO , House Nation Records , `Hot Mix 5 Records , Fierce Records , Relief + many more .
Tevo will be performing live and by live I mean a proper analogue live set with 2 drum machines + .
On Dj Duties we have invited 2 of the most revered dj’s from Berlin and our personal favourites : Prosumer & Tama Sumo who played a great back to back 6 hr set at Süd Electronic’s 9th Birthday last October .
Prosumer - Resident Dj @ Panorama Bar is somewhat of an expert in classic Chicago house and Detroit Techno & he gained these expertise first as a fervent record buyer at Saarbrücken’s Hard Wax branch, where he later started working behind the counter. It was the heyday of labels such as Prescription and Relief, the time for soulful house music, which still can be heard in Prosumer’s sets today.
An excellent dj with a huge passion for outstanding honest music from the heart , new and old .
Tama Sumo is also one of those passionate dj’s with an impressive taste in music and huge technical skills behind the decks evident in her excellent Panorama Bar 02 mix . Tama Sumo is a seasoned Berlin Dj who is now traveling different corners of the world spreading the good music .
She started out in 1993 at the Drama bar in Berlin / Kreutzberg, one of the first bars to ever feature its own dj’s on the weekends .
She has since played regularly at the Old Tresor , Ostgut and currently holds a residency @ Panorama Bar .
Resident Dj and Süd & Uzuri head honcho ; Lakuti will be on dj duties too .
We will be back at the ace basement of The Camp this time with even Longer hours .
Kick Off is @ 10 pm and the party will go on until 8am !!!!
The door charge will be reduced to £9 from 10 pm – 12 am , so whoever arrives at those times will come in at that rate .
Advance tickets can also be bought via Resident Advisor @ £10 with a small booking fee charge otherwise it’s £12 on the door after midnite .
A good sound system will also be in place on the nite . Great visuals and lighting to further enhance the atmosphere .

The party that we most look forward to , our last blow out for the year . We’ve pulled out all the stops to make this one the party to remember . well we hope so anyway ?
For the last 4 years we’ve been collaborating with Dial Records for the Xmas Knees up . In the spirit of refreshing things ……. We will be bringing a different kind of beast to the table @ this Year’s do !!!
I am personally , extremely excited to be bringing over these 2 producers/dj’s to London , namely Levon Vincent & XDB .
Levon Vincent
To say that Levon has had a great year would be a huge understatement . 2009 has seen him capturing both the House & Techno community with his rugged house structures and classic dub tones and properly pumping rhythms . In other words music to make you move !!!
Levon has been receiving props from some of the most respected dj’s/producers out there : Marcell Dettman , Ben Klock , Dj Deep , Tricksi , Jus Ed , Dj Qu , Dan Curtin , Don Williams , Tama Sumo , Steffi , Santiago Salazar , The Clone Crew , Redshape and that’s just for starters .
His contribution on the latest Panorama bar mix by Tama Sumo – “ Late Night Jam “ has further demonstrated just how much of a devastating effect Levon’s Music has on the dancefloor . That riff is enough to blow you into submission and then some .
Double Jointed Sex Freak – his next ep on Novel Sound further cements Levon Vincent as a truly exciting producer !!
Levon however is no fly by night one trick pony . his been working hard for years on his craft !
Levon Vincent is a DJ and producer from NYC. He is part of the tri-state’s Underground Quality crew Headed by label owner Jus Ed. He runs the Novel Sound label and also makes records for Deconstruct Music, a second label which he manages alongside longtime friend Anthony Parasole (of House n Home).?”I spent my teenage years in the pre-Guiliani dance-friendly 90’s on 8th street at Patricia Field’s store, ticketing clothing in the basement during days, then spending my nights DJing and learning to make house music. In that era I DJ’d at clubs like Limelite, Shelter, Save the Robots, and Nation. The latter half of the 90s was pretty weak in NY, and I dropped out to focus on learning more about music. In 2002, I started working for Halcyon Records in Brooklyn where we hosted parties with DJs like Frankie Knuckles, Danny Krivit, Nicky Siano, Mark Kamins, Jus-Ed and many more inspirational figures. During this time I ran my first record label, “MoremusicNY” and I made my first deep house record, nomoreheros, (released in 2002). Jaymz Nylon heard it in the store and gave me some very important feedback, and helped me understand a newer approach to doing arrangements “on the fly”, which I then explored for the next several years. This technique proved to be a huge piece of the puzzle for me. In 2007 I began preparation for my label, Novel Sound, under the guidance of friend and mentor Jus Ed.”
So come and experience some of that New York magic come December the 12th .
XDB :
I first experienced an XDB set @ this years Free Rotation Festival in August . I got woken up by the sound of pure Raw bass which permeated through my window on the Sunday morning . I was compelled to wake up and go and investigate . I quickly stumbled towards the outside tent and there he was expertly melding Raw , Warm analogue sounds from the past to the present . I was mesmerized . I patiently waited for him to finish the set and subsequently invited him to come play in London on the 12th December alongside Levon Vincent & myself .
The adage – less is More , truly applies to XDB.
2009 has only seen 2 releases from him . The astonishingly good Cagomi Ep on Metrolux & the equally good Mihon Ep on Delikat and November 16th 09 will see another killer ep coming out on the legendary Francois K’s New York Imprint ; Wave Music .
DJ/Producer XDB AKA Kosta Athanassiadis has been Djing since the early nineties but it’s in the last few years that his abilities as a producer have come to fore both through his recordings for labels such as Detroit’s Sistrum and the fledgling Delikat and his releases on his own Metrolux label which he founded in 2006.
After years of working in a record shop, he launched his Metrolux label in 2006 and works closely with producers Atheus and Arne Weinberg.Lately, Kosta Athanassiadis is garnering the overdue attention. In April 2009, he delivered mnml ssgs' 25th podcast in two parts – the beloved bloggers had seen XDB perform at Tokyo's Labyrinth festival about six months earlier, and eagerly anticipated the chance to share a live set he'd recorded in Hamburg with their readers. In the following month, Intrusion contributed a podcast to Resident Advisor, and incorporated XDB's live version of “Descap,” which was released on Metrolux before its re-release on Francois K's Wave Music label. The latter was his big break, and since its issue in 2007, Kosta has been developing a renowned name as a very accomplished artist . He also has a release on Sistrum, which is owned and operated by Detroit's own Patrice Scott. he and XDB share the vision of pushing a sound that is influenced by Detroit but not trapped by its legacy . XDB’s DJ sets are full of organic warmth and depth, and it's here that he lives up to his reputation as a historian of electronic music. His live sets repeatedly curate a greatest hits playlist that pores over the blueprints of dub, house and techno from the last thirty to forty years. He sees his music heading in a direction that ranges from deep and soulful Detroit house to raw, analogue sounding dub techno, which is executed brilliantly on his last Metrolux EP, Cagomi. Throughout his growing popularity, XDB has kept his identity nearly silent, allowing his music to be unpolluted by preconceived notions that comes with branding one's image. “Less is more,” he suggests, applying the advice to inspiring and established artists.
With over 5000 records in his collection , it looks like we are in for a treat come December the 12th .
Levon & Xdb will be supported by Uzuri & Süd head honcho Lakuti.

After our hugely enjoyable 9th year Birthday celebrations ( thanx to some of you for the incredible support you’d given us and thanx also to the dj’s on the night , Prosumer & Tama Sumo for laying down the excellent music in the basement & the TotheBone Dj’s for their wonderful contribution in the bar ) ; we return to this excellent basement space for more of the same really .
When the clock strikes midnight , we will be welcoming you to the basement of the Camp for our Halloween extravaganza , our first Halloween outing in about 5 years .
Record shop and record label – Smallville , from hamburg , run by Peter Kersten aka Lawrence/Sten & Julius Steinhoff will be debuting their label night in London for the 1st time ever .
Our relationship with Peter Kersten aka Lawrence/Sten dates back 5 years
When he debuted his live set for the 1st time in London @ Süd’s xmas bash . Since then every 2nd Saturday of December , London has seen a
Süd & Dial meet up , which has seen performances from Lawrence himself , Efdemin , Rndm , Pantha Du Prince , David Lieske & even a special guest thrown in for good measure ; last year – Dj Jus Ed .
This time around we decided to throw the spotlight on Smallville Records which has become a by word for the highest quality House & Techno .
The record shop itself first opened it’s doors to the public in 2005 then followed the label in 2006 .
Smallville , the label has seen some impeccable music from a stellar roster : Move D & Benjamin Brunn , Sten , Stl , Denis Karimani , Jacek Sienkiewicz , Steinhoff & hammouda , Lowtec , Dionne e.t.c.
A bit on the Artists Playing on The night :
Lawrence/Sten :
To any self respecting lover of electronic music Peter kersten’s guises as Lawrence & Sten should stand for high quality .
Peter kersten’s output as Lawrence shimmers and glides along the dancefloor with aching melancholy and subtle melodies . Bubbling with deep house rhythms, subtle electronic nuances and delicate chords .
Heavily influenced by Detroit , instead of doing a carbon copy of Detroit , he firmly puts his own twist on proceedings , in doing so , he completely introduces his own unique sound .
His Sten guise offers a more muscular take on this sound and is firmly rooted on the dancefloor .
Peter Kersten has four albums under his belt for labels such as Ladomat , Novamute , Dial & most recently tokyo’s Mule Electronic , as well as 2 albums under his Sten guise on Dial and several 12” ‘s for labels such as Dial , Mule , Sender , Spectral , Kompakt e.t.c.
His much in demand dj sets as well as live sets have seen him travel and play in clubs across the globe and Dial Records host a regular night @ Berlin’s infamous Panoramabar .
Julius Steinhoff ( London Debut )
Julius Steinhoff will be playing for the very first time in London on this date .
Julius and Peter Kersten first launched Smallville Records the shop in May 2005 and the label in 2006 . Julius’s entry into production is quite a fresh one but boy has he made a mark with excellent releases alongside trusted friends Hammouda & Dionne and even the mighty Jus Ed got in on the action with the sublime remix of “Touch” , Juliu’s offering alongside Dionne .
Julius has a lot of experience as a dj having played at many clubs across Europe so expect the finest in house and techno on the night .
Lowtec : (London Debut )
Jens Kuhn known to many as Lowtec is the man behind the much lauded , Hardwax affiliated Workshop imprint .
Jens Kuhn’s strong passion for electronic music goes beyond the Workshop label however ; Jens has long been plying the discerning collectors in us , with the finest house and techno cuts on labels such as Out To Lunch , Move D’s excellent Source Records , Combination , Playhouse ( the excellent “ In Fail we trust “ would be my pick as far as releases on Playhouse are concerned ) . His recent excellent outings – Workshop 006 , His offering on Smallville , not to mention his latest ep titled “Angstrom EP” on Polyfon .
Check soundclips by clicking on the link below :
http://hardwax.com/59543/
For the first time ever in London Lowtec will be unveiling his live set to our local audience .
No warm up sets from residents this time around , just straight in with the Smallville Crew with the very best in House & Techno .
Smallville are also known for their visual sensibilities with great cover art for their releases as well as flyers .
We are cooking up a special image to commemorate the Halloween event with their long time collaborator and artist Stefan Marx .
Smallville will also be playing a hand as far as the visuals are concerned on the night .
Outrageous outfits on the night are strongly encouraged !!
The upstairs bar @ The Camp will be open from 7pm on the night so why not start your evening there before heading downstairs when it hits midnight .

Please join us in celebrating Süd’s 9th Year Birthday .
It’s hard to believe that we will be marking 9 years of parties in London .
our enthusiasm
for putting on parties is even stronger than 9 years ago & we still learning with every party we put on & most importantly we’ve managed to remain fiercely independent & fairly low key with it all , largely due to the low key spaces we use .
A special thank you has to go to all those wonderful dj’s and artists who have believed in and supported our little party . The biggest thank you however goes out to each and every person who has supported us and allowed us to indulge ourselves in this dream and passion ………for music .
To mark the occasion we’ve invited 2 of the most revered house dj’s to come out of the Berghain/Panorama/Ostgut camp .
Prosumer & Tama Sumo have been enlisted with the task of entertaining you all .
For 6 hrs on the night ; these two excellent dj’s will take us on a journey through essential moments in HOUSE & TECHNO & whatever else they want to play .
Prosumer & Tama Sumo will be a deadly combination behind the decks . Something they do on a regular basis in Berlin with their 5 Euro nights at the Berghain Kantine alongside Steffi .
Tama Sumo might not be a household name on the London clubbing scene , but that’s about to change as she has been entrusted with the mammoth task of mixing the 2nd Panorama Mix , which will be released on the 19th of October 2009 . The first mix as we all remember was by Cassy and it catapulted her into a global dj .
Tama’s mix boasts tracks by the likes of Levon Vincent (offering an exclusive track ) as well as exclusive tracks by Lerosa , Steffi and it also features tracks by Mike Huckaby , Newworldaquarium , Shed ++++ many more .
Tama Sumo is somewhat of a local hero in Berlin . She started out in a bar called Drama In Kreuzberg an important space for the scene at the time having been the first bar to feature live dj’s on the weekend . The 1st place to feature house at the time , in an otherwise Techno dominated Berlin .
She quickly became a resident @ Globus/Tresor as well as the gay Saturdays @ Café Moskau .
Since her residency at Globus/Tresor in 1997 , she has opened up even further beyond just Techno & House . Since 2001 she regularly played at the Gay/Lesbian parties “ Dance with The Aliens” at the old Ostgut & subsequently became a resident @ Panorama Bar .
It seems as though London can not get enough of Prosumer !!!!! His truly brought the funk back into the city with his highly infectious dj sets . his certainly got me back on the dance floor :-)
London is not the only city to catch the Prosumer bug . His dj schedule would be the envy of any dj . A residency at Panorama Bar , dj stints all over germany , Paris , Oslo and many other cities.
His production as a solo artist for the highly sought out Running Back label and his highly effective partnership with Murat Tepeli has brought some magnificent moments
On the dance floor .
The forthcoming Ep from the duo featuring extra vocals from Elif alongside the silk voice of Prosumer will be released on Ostgut Ton on September the 21st & it’s a cracker . .
We’ve also managed to find an excellent space for this . twice the size of BG”S , so that we all have enough room to dance and as usual there will be a top of the range soundsytem .

More On the Artists :
Dj Qu :
New Jersey resident , Dj Qu has been making some of the best and deepest house and techno for the last few years on the mighty Jus Ed’s Underground Quality imprint and his very own Strength Music label . With releases scheduled for Sascha Dive’s , Deep Vibes imprint , Levon Vincent’s & Anthony Parasole’s Deconstruction imprint + many more ….. more goodness will be coming from him shortly .
Dj Qu cemented his position as one of the most innovative producers out there with “ Be Who You Want” in 2008 .
A track that was played by dj’s such as Daniel Bell , Prosumer , Dj Deep , Cassy , Steve Bug , Jus Ed , Steffi , Tama Sumo & more
My pick though would be “Air’s Forces on the “Semesters Ep” on Strength Music . A monster of a track . Closely followed by “passing states” ep . In fact everything that his made is of the highest quality .
Not only is he an outstanding producer , dj qu is one of a rare breed these days . a dj !! & an exceptional one at that , rather than a producer and dj by default .
Resident dj’s @ one of New York’s best kept secrets , “ The House Dance Conference “ , a night that sees dancers from all over the east coast & beyond descend upon the city for a fix of the deepest of house .
Qu’s dj sets have also been gaining favour across Europe with dj sets @ Tape club in berlin , Fabric e.t.c.
Dj Qu & Jus Ed recently played some of the best music I’ve heard in room 3 @ Fabric . Qu describes his style of djaying as “ a dancer’s energy and mood presentation “ . Not to be missed .
In the meantime here is a little mix Dj Qu put together for the Uzuri Artist Bookings & management website a few months ago :
Click on the link below to get to the mix
http://uzurirecordings.com/uzuri-management-and-bookings
Steffi :
Steffi was a mainstay in the Amsterdam electronic music scene , before relocating to Berlin in 2007 and landing herself a residency @ one of the most revered clubs in the world . Berghain /Panorama Bar & quickly establishing herself as one of the best deep house dj’s in Europe , with regular dj stints in clubs across Europe .
You can trust Steffi as a dj implicitly , in form and content . her skills are extraordinary behind the decks . She features a plethora of styles and varies every single one of her sets ranging from electronic disco , to serious Detroit or dutch electro , whereas original , funky and fat house always will be her solid foundation .
Since 2000 Steffi has been running Klakson alongside Dutch Producer Dexter .
Steffi Alongside Prosumer and Tama Sumo have been running a Wednesday House party simply titled 5 Euros in the Berghain Kantine which has quickly established itself as a destination for any discerning house lover .
Steffi also delivered one of the deepest and sweetest podcasts for Resident Advisor in 2008 .
Steffi has been getting into production . Her remix for San Proper & Steven De Peven on Soul Rock was released last year and it’s great .
Another first for London !!
Scott Ferguson
A unique synthesis of Blues , Soul , Disco , house and techno are echoed in both Scott Ferguson’s productions and dj sets . His jazzy and soulful compositions , energetic club tracks and druggy slow burners incorporate a blend of rhythms .
Scott benefits from a proper schooling on the art of house from that mythical city , Detroit !
With excellent releases on labels such as Ferrispark , Deep Vibes , Deep Explorer , Gigolo , Kinda of Soul , Third Ear e.t.c.
Clone will be reissuing some of the highly sought after Ferrispark releases shortly .
Scott made his Uk Debut with a dj set at Süd’s 8 year birthday alongside Prosumer last October . He will be debuting his live set for the Uk at this outing .
To The Bone Radio Dj’s
To the bone have been throwing some of the most fun parties across London in recent years . These boys know a thing or two about house , disco and beyond . with regular dj stints across the Uk . Prosumer , Sven Weisseman , e.t.c . first made their Uk debuts at TTB . Check out their fab podcasts and guests mixes including a live mix recorded @ panorama bar , by Steffi .

Move D ;
Much has been written about Move D in recent months & we are glad that he is receiving all these props as we think that the man is a genius !!!
If his recent dj stint @ Warm @ Plastic People is anything to go by , we are all in for an excellent treat !!
2008 year was a huge year for Move D ; with Resident Advisor subscribers voting him amongst the top 3 of the best live acts in electronic music for 2008 , Ace podcasts and endless tours e.t.c. This is no fly by night artist . David Moufang Aka Move D has been honing his skills for a long time . One of our favourite dj's and producers .
We are also pleased to have been the first promoters to book him to play in london . He has been playing our first party of the year now since 2007 . His kindly offered to play a live set for us on the night as well as a 3hr dj set !!!
So expect the very best in House & Techno !!
Portable/Bodycode :
2008 was also a huge year for Alan Abrahams aka Portable/Bodycode ; with his wonderful new school with a retro twist excursions on Perlon & Musik Krause . His started 2009 on a good footing as well , sharing billings with the likes of Omar S in LA last weekend as well as a quick turn in New York .
Spectral will be releasing a second album by the man , under his Bodycode guise in May 2009 . A 12" vinyl taster featuring a track taken off the album will be released in March . This 12" will feature a remix by Babyford .
His kindly offered to play a world exclusive live set , showcasing the album . i've had the pleasure of sampling the album as well as featuring on one of the tracks on vocal duties and i must say this is a fresh as you like outing ! !
Unmissable in other words .
Venue :
We have been using this Dalston venue since last October . Our favourite venue yet . Proper underground , just the way we like it , with an ace enclosed garden and decent security !!
we apologise for the less than perfect sound quality at our xmas bash at this venue . We were running the Funktion one on a pioneer mixer and as a result the sound quality was compromised . we will be running it this time on an Allen & Heath or Funktion 1 Formula Mixer so there will be a noticeable difference this time around !
We will be limiting the capacity to 300 this time around as we do not want to pack the venue out too much , this time around .
