A free multi-cultural music one day festival

[ text about: http://sonomu.net/event/~6-1394/ ]

Back for its 7th year, D percussion, will take over the Amphitheatre, arches, bars, fields and roman ruins of Castlefield, with 6 stages, 100 artists and over 40, 000 people plus food, drink, live street art (also open to the public), street performances, thrill rides and even some extreme sports.
Aftershock will also bring their Fire Engine sound system, where the likes of Play Music, Roots Before Branches, and People Get Real will be playing.
This years’ festival will also play host to the Manchester leg of Urban X (A nationwide Rat Race Adventure series, sponsored by The North Face). For the active (and over 14yrs) there is the “Rat Race”: open to all abilities, it incorporates running, climbing, abseiling, racing and navigation around a course that will somehow cover the natural, historic, and contemporary beauty of the Castlefield site (the details of which will be revealed on race day). For full details and how to enter visit http://www.ratraceadventure.com.
Professional climbers will be able to get a birds-eye view of the festival, as Urban X will also bring with it an Ariel Assault course, and for any aches and pains a Sports Massage tent courtesy of Cancer BACUP.
D percussion was created by Ear to the Ground in 1997 as a response to the 1996 IRA bombing and provides a platform for the best new talent and established names from various genres of music including rock, indie, house, drum n bass and RnB. It lays claim to hosting first major gigs for the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, Snow Patrol and Mr Scruff, and the return of 808 state in 2002.
Following last years’ sunshine filled success D percussion has received 4-year funding from Manchester City Council, to secure the free music festival returns for 2005 and reaches its 10th anniversary in 2008.
