From the rocky opener, title track "Closer" this is an album of mostly guitar driven songs, expressed in infectious melodies. "Reorganised" has already been described as "Neil Finn meeting up with John Lennon and setting the world to rights". There are many poignant moments, such as piano ballad "What they say" and the soul searching "Armchair", which whispers despair before soaring into an anthem of hope. Signing off with the haunting "Fathers eyes", Max’s latest work represents an emotional journey as one man seeks just one thing - to be closer to God.
