this month witnesses the welcome return of random number (aka mr matt robson). matt has been a key player in the leeds music scene for over a decade, lending his talents to a number of inspirational outfits including the wonderful ‘coping saw’ and peerless domino post rockers ‘hood’. now solo and purveying his own brand of “wrongbeat”, he’s notched up a string of releases on various labels including his ‘nme dance single of the week’ release on mogwai’s ADHD inspired ‘rock action’ imprint. meanwhile his legendary live performances veer from skittering energy bursts to moments of off-kilter introspection, always cutting against the clinical detachment that characterises so much of today’s live electronic music.

it’s taken a while but miso are excited to welcome one of our favourite labels back to glasgow. melodic have been on the go for about 5 years now, steadily growing and gaining critical acclaim for their particular brand of beautiful, considered electronica. james ruteledge (aka pedro) has been with the label since it’s birth, he was actually the first artist to record for the fledgling imprint. since then we’ve seen two astounding pedro records which have set us up nicely for his new album which hits the record shops later this month. support on the night comes from lucky pierre (aka aidan moffat) who has also recorded as one half of arab strap and will be performing a special L pierre dj set. colditz puts the cherry on top of what we excitedly expect to be the finest miso so far this year...

miso mischief (free free free)

this month miso has decided to throw a free party. an opportunity for us all to get up to some mischief and reflect on the great artists we’ve had over the last 2 years. we’ve invited several of the finest local guests to return to the note with record bags in hand to play you a selection of the most exciting new electronic sounds. there’ll be open decks all night so bring down some music you think we should be listening to and take a turn.

equipment on the night will be as follows...

pioneer djm-600 mixer
video projector

we can expect to hear friends of miso from labels spanning the world including guest dj’s from stuff records, planet-mu, benbecula, static caravan and more...

the brave amongst us will also be able to try miso’s very own designer cocktail... a mixture of real Japanese miso, vodka, tomato juice and aphex twin’s sweat.
