One Big Wave / Sweet Sweet Sleep by Absentee (radiocd3)

One Big Wave / Sweet Sweet Sleep by Absentee (radiocd3) [ text about: One Big Wave / Sweet Sweet Sleep by Absentee (radiocd3) ]

Dan Michaelson a.k.a. absentee recorded these 2 lo-fi gems at home onto 4 track cassette, and praise be that he did because these are unrepeatable performances. Very few copies of this promo only single remain. You'll hopefully be able to hear an audio stream here very soon. Until then its a case of trawling through your recordings of John Peel's show or buying a copy.

The rush of 'One Big Wave' announces the opening scene of the film 'Twisted', a comedy about a pair of serial killing identical twins in LA. 'Sweet Sweet Sleep' also features in the film - both in its stripped down form from this single and a fully orchesrated version.

Hawaiian Disco by Absentee (radiocd4)

Hawaiian Disco by Absentee (radiocd4) [ text about: Hawaiian Disco by Absentee (radiocd4) ]

Following the cult success of double A side debut single 'One Big Wave' / 'Sweet Sweet Sleep' absentee now release 'Hawaiian Disco', a short yet perfectly formed first album.

You'll hear references to Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Lou Reed. You will also discover beautiful melodies, lyrics and atmospheres, but it is the disarmingly natural delivery of these audio polaroids that makes 'Hawaiian Disco' essential listening.

Five tracks from 'Hawaiian Disco' and both tracks from the debut single (neither of which are on the album) also appear on the soundtrack to 'Twisted'. This feature length black comedy, set and shot in LA, premiered at this years Raindance Film Festival.
