randomNumber record release party

[ text about: randomNumber record release party ]

randomNumber record release party!

to celebrate the release of randomNumber's latest full length "Golden Acre Sleeps", we're throwing a special shindig with the awesome peoples from Lonepilot.co.uk. Its 8th February, upstairs at Catch on Kingsland Road, London. We'll have lots of copies of the album to sell at a nice reduced price, and also a few copies to raffle.
Come out drink, dance and go home happy!

Some early praise for "Golden Acre Sleeps"
" Love it!" Rob Da Bank
"It's good, really good... there's a lot more ambience in there and it's still crunchy in that Funkstorung way. I think it's possibly somewhere between Boards Of Canada and Funkstorung." Norman Records

In support are:
Tom Hatred
"...a deceptively soothing voice, battered guitar and harmonica, plays from the darkest corners of his heart."

Jeff Cloke
" Sound artist Jeff Cloke uses a microphone and delays to explore and manipulate the sounds created in the performance space. The resulting improvised resonances are like nothing you've previously heard."

Project Serendipity.
" Project Serendipity is Paul from hardcore band Black Tax taking on early Aphex Twin style explorations of chewy beats and ice cold chord changes. "

FOUR TET plays an intimate live set on Sunday June 5th at Bardens Boudoir, 38-44 Stoke Newington Road, London, N16 7XJ from his forthcoming new album "Everything Ecstatic" out May 23rd on Domino

"Four Tet's epiphany is concerned entirely with the properties of sound itself. Accept that, and you'll agree he's on a plane of his own." Uncut 4/5

After the sellout Scala show in April PREFUSE 73 and full band (consisting of members of celebrated post rock outfit Tortoise and many other Chicago luminaries) play new material from the recent Warp release "Surrounded by Silence" and the critically acclaimed album 'One Word Extinguisher'

Prefuse 73 mixes mighty hip hop instrumentals finely spliced with diced lyricism drenched in early 80s electro, its like Aphex Twin remixing Outkast... with its sharp hooks, wit and wilful musical terrorism. Imagine what would have happened if Jackson Pollock ever made a hip hop beat. Thats Prefuse 73...! A fusillade of dirty beats, soulful moans, skronking electronica and subtly bewitching, beat-boxing hip hop... this man is a genius...

Prefuse 73 'the underground Timbaland a sound that seems direct and graceful even as it explodes in a thousand fresh directions' 4/5 Uncut

THE THING comprising of Mats Gustafsson, Ingebrigt Haker Flaten, and Paal Nilssen-Love of fly in from Sweden to play their first ever live show from the recent Small Town Super Sound release "Garage"

"The Thing convert nouveau punk and vintage garage rock into a roaring scream-up, but the sheer energy and love of the music keep gimmickry at bay" Uncut

LIKE A STUNTMAN a four-piece from Frankfurt, Germany, is Highpoint Lowlife's first full band signing. Building upon the label's predominately electronic background, Like A Stuntman take as building blocks the detuned experimental noise-pop of bands like Boyracer or Deerhoof, adhere it to
Pavement-esque infectious melodies and a lazy drawl, and propel it forward on a danceable wave of Casio keyboards, and lo-fi drum-machines.

"Germanys latest attempt to forget about Hasselhoff sees pointed Pavement guitars and awkward electronics showered with disjointed melodies and spurts of crazed pop. You can smell the dirt of Frankfurt and feel the uncomfortable touch of an over enthusiastic Aunt. Brilliant." The Fly
