press release - Daikan

Finally after 3 years of waiting, Thomas Köner releases Daikan. Recorded live at the 2000 EUROPEAN MEDIA ARTS FESTIVAL in Osnabrück. Daikan is the audible end of the installation project between JÜRGEN REBLE and THOMAS KÖNER that went on to win the NEW MEDIA PRIZE at Montreal's prestigious FCMM 2000. The main idea behind Daikan is the experience of changes and transformations that lie on the edge of perception. By experiencing Daikan, the mind creates a state of suspended illusion. As in the words of THOMAS KÖNER "Daikan" will create a presence of sounds which do not refer to anything, and not only allow, but stimulates a complete awareness, free of dramatized illusion. With this project, I want to offer a composed framework for this".
