press release - So Close

Marrying contemporary dancefloor producers with a Parliament-style, jazz-funk supergroup heritage, electracoustic’s fourth release from the "Funkin’ Motion" collection brings forth one of house music’s classic and supreme remix teams, New Jersey’s finest, Blaze, on duties over the vocal led and highly anticipated "So Close".

Following up the critically acclaimed Kerri Chandler re-working of electracoustic’s "Pacific Coast Highway", the Funky Lowlives’ sumptuous reworking of "Universal", and the underground pairing of the Meat Katie vs Alpinestars release, the Blaze remix of "So Close" returns to the vibrancy, edge and style of the remixes from the live jams.

Artists who have contributed to electracoustic so far include Simon Bartholomew of The Brand New Heavies, Nick Seymour of Acid Jazz’s Akimbo, sessions players from Incognito, Jamiroquai and Primal Scream, and on vocals, Aurora Dawn, who’s worked with Roots Manuva and Nightmares On Wax. Originally inspired by the legendary Larry Levan and the infamous Paradise Garage, Kevin Hedge and Josh Milan’s production work sees a sultry and bassline give way to a stomping house anthem with a strong but serene vocal performance from the aforementioned Aurora Dawn before a jazzy keyboard and vocal breakdown keep the dancefloor on its toes.

Subtle, strong and soulful, precisely what we’ve come to expect from Blaze productions

On the b-side, the dubs, which are entirely exclusive to this vinyl release see Blaze taking a more authentic minimalist US garage approach to the jam, bring in a deft and sultry sleight of hand on the dubs, on "Blaze’s Downtown Lounge Beats" and "Blaze’s Vocal Strip Dub".
