press release - The Asthmatic Worm

Let's face it. We all grew up with the sound of melodicas. It reminds us of what life used to be. Back in the good old days. For a good number of musicians, however, the melodica, as well as the accordion, never disappeared. They still use it, love it, adore it. Enter Mobilé Records, a new label from Berlin, who took the effort to compile 12 of the most beautiful melodica and accordion tracks of today. And, boy oh boy, we've hardly ever came across such a wonderful collection of DSP-infiltrated kindergarten nostalgia. Múm, März, Sensorama, our friends from Hey Rec., Doctor Rockit, Gotan Project, Dntel, Gonzales, Atom Heart, Wechsel Garland, Markus Nikolai and Burnt Friedmann, all come up with their very own ideas of how to use these dearly loved instruments as a part of their very specific musical universe. From Doctor Rockit's famous "Café de Flore" (if there is anybody out there thinking this is not a classic already....we see dark clouds on your horizon), to Dntel's cute (and exclusive) "Your Hill", from Nikolai's dubby deep sea diver "Would Grandpa Like It?" to Pole's static, crackling reworking of Atom Heart...you'll love every second of this wonderful compilation. Beautiful, book-like packaging with extensive liner notes makes the asthmatic worm the trigger for your very own summer. Pure Bliss and very highly recommended.
