press release - Universal

Marrying contemporary dancefloor producers with Parliament-style, jazz-funk supergroup heritage, electracoustic’s second vinyl taken from the "Funkin’ Motion" collection, showcasing the killer Funky Lowlives remix of "Universal" seems set to expand the project to a whole, wider audience.

Following up the critically acclaimed Kerri Chandler re-working of electracoustic’s "Pacific Coast Highway", the Funky Lowlives’ sumptuous reworking of the "Universal" sees Aurora Dawn’s strong, yet serene vocals take centre stage in a classy, upbeat, leftfield Balearic groove.

A sauntering, jaunty, accessible anthem….That’s how we’d put it.

Artists contributing to electracoustic so far include Simon Bartholomew of The Brand New Heavies, Nick Seymour of Acid Jazz’s Akimbo, sessions players from Incognito, Jamiroquai and Primal Scream, and the aforementioned Aurora Dawn, who’s worked with Roots Manuva and Nightmares On Wax.

As for the lead remixers on the twelve, the Funky Lowlives, they also share electracoustic’s commitment to recording live instrumentation. Name-checked by the likes of Kruder & Dorfmeister amongst many others, they remain the only British act to have been released on the pair’s hugely influential G-Stone label. With the Lowlives "Cartouche" album recently released via Stereo Deluxe, they are enjoying a deservedly high profile at the moment, both in the UK and further afield.

On the flip side, an original live Jam by Simon Bartholomew, Nick Seymour and Jim Watson has been reworked by Outer Recordings’ Auric alongside Anthony "DJAM" Middleton to create "Diggin’", a stealthy ambient stunner that builds from the 70’s soundscape horn-lines of Primal Scream trumpeter Duncan Mackay and dreamy keyboards by DJAM before nestling down to the chunky basslines and intricate percussion of the live players.
