Evil Weevil 12"

release format Evil Weevil 12" by Vendor Refill (CD Album)

text

Fresh from the remix appearance on the the recent Mira Calx single, Tom Betts (aka Vendor Refill) release this ep of Skam/MAS-style electronica on Marco Passarani's Nature label. On this five tracker Vendor Refill experiment with lush melodies over deep bass, muted crunchy percussion, and some occasional polyrhythms to come up something not unlike what we've heard from Bola, Gescom or Markant. The final track on this ep is actually a collaboration between Vendor Refill and Disjecta where the two deliver a hauntingly melodic & minimal track that sound very much like Funkstroung. This ep certainly doesn't break any new ground but it does deliver five beautiful pieces of electronica that Skam/MAS fans will really enjoy. We can also expect more good things from Vendor Refill in the near future like an album on Nature and some eps for other well-known IDM labels. 8/10
