Between Two Yearthousands

a review by Stephen Fruitman of
release format Between Two Yearthousands by Dronæment, Rabbits' Sorrow (harp05)

text

A Franco-German collaboration, the soothing sounds contained within 'Between Two Yearthousands' were recorded onto four-track tape and minidisc and swapped back and forth between Dronćment (Marcus Obst, analogue drones) and Rabbits' Sorrow (Sébastien Roux, guitar) before the fine final results were achieved. The nine pieces here (the first five of which comprise the suite "Ladoga Horses") succeed in effecting a stimulating cross between beatless, guitar-based ambient and eerie isolationism.
