A (need I say it?) very friendly little disc! Kettel has already attained some international recognition with his recent remix of Depeche Mode. The label, Sending Orbs, is a relatively new one already sending fans of instrumental electronic music into fits of ecstacy. With Through Friendly Waters, for instance, we are guided along an extended journey into the brain of a young Dutchman just bursting with energy and imagination.

Twinkly electronics, with a piano thrown in here, a cello there and a piccolo over there. Sweet beaty music. And how can you resist a fellow whose only liner note states "Cocktail recipes and marriage proposals to...".

Melodic and playful, Through Friendly Waters is irresistable music, employing a wide array of electronic sounds while giving the cold shoulder to any recent trend. Kettel follows his own star, and it is bright and shiny and wants to illuminate the way to the fun for us. From note one we follow Kettel down into the rabbit´s hole of delight. The artist seems to be having a great time fiddling with beats and melodies. This music is not exactly challenging, but that doesn´t have to be a bad thing. It´s pop electronics for those who enjoy a comforting ride into the unknown.

Kettel´s is a world of wonder, and he invites us to join him, asking only that we suspend belief in the everyday. Hop on, the ride is amiable. You´re in good hands with Kettel.
