Richard Dorfmeister Presents a Different Drummer Selection

text

In order to celebrate ten years of delivering high-quality product in proper high style, the Different Drummer label enlists Continental nu dub doyen Richard Dorfmeister to leaf through its catalogue in order to showcase the best of the best in his inimitable fashion.

His nimble mind and dab hand pick and mix major highlights like Noiseshaper´s blues triumph "Moving Together" with Wayne Martin on vocals (why is this man not a star?) and Overproof Soundsystem's "cautionary" weed tale "Watch What You Put Inna", with a treasure trove of gems not necessarily noticed when embedded in their original settings, like G-Corp's "Peacetime" and Painted Van´s "Miss Melody Wax".

Herr Dorfmeister restricts himself to selecting and, only on rare occasions, adding the most discreet of brushstrokes to the originals. As a template for the mix compilation, it ought to be placed directly on the syllabus of all "DJ 101" courses.

Smooth as a cat's contented purr, unremittingly dubby, lovingly put together. Noiseshaper twice, G-Corp three times, International Observer twice, Rockers Hi Fi, many more. "Music", as Vido Jelashe I proclaims, "is the only redeemer". Ain't it true? Long may we march to the beat of Different Drummer!
